How to Use the Web for Targeted Networking

June 15, 2010 by From-Home.net

(ARA) – When searching for a new career opportunity, the traditional method of “pounding the pavement” has gone virtual. Companies are posting employment opportunities on their Web sites, and are also utilizing social networking tools such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to spread the message. To find the right job, use an integrated approach of social media, job search sites and targeted industry research.

Social networking sites act as an introductory service, providing people the opportunity to meet industry professionals through their own list of contacts. In this way, social and professional networking platforms make it easy for job-seekers to connect with former colleagues, while at the same time, granting them access to a person’s current position, previous employment and most importantly, their network of contacts.

“Using a site like LinkedIn, you can see the industry groups and professional associations that another user belongs to,” says Amber Kostik, career services adviser at The Art Institute of California – San Francisco. “You can look at a professional’s past experience, and that can give you an idea of what your dream company is looking for.”

Another tool is using job search Web sites like Monster or CareerBuilder, although it oftentimes proves more effective to specifically target companies you would like to work for. Individually targeting these companies helps define your career focus and allows you to customize your resume and cover letter to meet their company vision.

Job search Web sites can be a resource on many levels, including offering comparable job descriptions to ones that you have researched while targeting specific companies. This proves helpful in understanding what requirements and skill sets might be needed for a certain job. Another resource is recruiter listings, which include specific information about the company. When you come across a too-good-to-be-true listing but don’t meet all the listed qualifications, apply anyway. Recruiters list qualifications of their “ideal candidate,” but there is always room for negotiation if you can get your foot in the door. Also, look for niche positions, as these listings often receive fewer applicants, meaning you are more likely to be seen.

“These Web-focused tactics are key aspects when looking for job opportunities. To be successful in finding work you must tie them all together” says Nathan Small, career services advisor at The Art Institute of California – Hollywood. “When identifying your strengths and looking for work, you must take it one step at a time but continue to hold onto things that motivate you to achieve your goals.”

By using this combination of social media, job search sites and targeted industry research, your network can grow exponentially. This offers many more ways to not only locate specific job opportunities, but also provides you with direct connections to people that you can reach out to for personal recommendations, additional information, and insight into specific opportunities. Using these tools can improve your job search, and your feet will thank you, too. To learn more about The Art Institutes schools, visit www.artinstitutes.edu/nz.

An Opportunity to Home Business

April 17, 2010 by From-Home.net
Filed under Opportunities, Work From Home

Opportunity has a strange way of presenting itself. While you may heavily be in search for the ‘right’ business opportunity, it will silently stand there, waiting to be found. It will not knock on your door or simply just pat on your back to grab your attention.

It will stand there; disguising itself, while waiting for you to recognize it and lift the veil from its face. It demands action from you, yet it won’t give the slightest hint of its existence. Now why is this?

A man who seeks opportunity will eventually find one. When, how and where entirely depends on the sharpness of the one seeking. Opportunities are already there. If we are not conscious of it’s being, we will not be aware of ever seeing one, however nly when we begin to become conscious of the reality, will we then begin to find them ( or even just one).

Recently a friend of mine critically asked me “If home business on the net can bring so much wealth and freedom to oneself how come everybody is not sitting at home, in front of a computer, earning and increasing in wealth”.

He was trying to negate that money can be earned by owning an online business. I tried my best to explain to him about earning online, but he was not ready to accept the reason.

“I think that is a huge waste of time.” He basically was rejecting my idea of earning while successfully running an online home business.

He was not conscious of the fact and he could not be subjected to reason.

“Well! Then home business is not for me”. His prerogative I guess.

First step to find a home business opportunity is to believe that it ‘exists’. One must accept that it is there. Then one must become aware of home business money earning potential.

When you become conscious of something you start noticing things that you have never picked up on before.  The way things work will become more comprehensible. That is law of nature.

Nature has designed things in this fashion to avoid the revelation to the unpreparedness and thus unworthiness.

The opportunity can only be used by ableness. One who can recognize the opportunity and acts to tap it is an able man. Other forms will not find the chance or let it pass without utilizing it.

Home business on the net has produced millionaires. Countless people started with limited resources and now earn unlimited wealth. What did they do?

They recognized an opportunity and took action. They had eyes for the opportunity and audacity for taking an action. That is what makes them stand apart in addition to the wealth they have made.

They were able an willing.

Taking an action is second step for tapping the opportunity. Action taking is must if you want to get yields from opportunity. Otherwise the opportunity is as good as no opportunity.

Opportunity for home based business would always remain. With internet expanding at such a fast pace, potential of home business is much more than ever.

But only those whom seek with conviction and vision will find one.

Moreover, only those who are courageous enough to take action would find their way to enormous wealth.

People who lack conviction, courage or both will not find any wealth in the home business or for that matter any success.

Work From Home Online Business Opportunities-Advantage And Disadvantages

April 16, 2010 by From-Home.net
Filed under Opportunities, Work From Home

People often ask me how I make money online working from home. When I tell them, the response is usually, COOL I WISH I WERE DOING THAT! But there are some minor disadvantages of having a work from home internet job.

My number 1 disadvantage of working from home on the internet is interruptions by family members while I’m trying to do something productive. Sure there are always interruptions at the office but my work from home internet business resides in my kitchen. There are ways to get around this if you have a spare room that you can use to set up shop in. I do not unfortunately.

Number 2 is just plain laziness and procrastination. As my own boss it’s easy to put off work from home business in exchange for a nice quiet day in front of the TV watching the discovery channel. It’s rally hard to get motivated sometimes. Especially when everyone has left the house and you are all alone.

Number 3 is finding a good balance between family time work from home business time and my full time job. Yes I still have a full time job. One of the reasons I started a work from home business is so I would have more leisure time with friends and family. But until I am making enough to quit my full time job, it does not look like that will happen.

Number 4 is security and not knowing how much money your work from home business is going to make from month to month. Also waiting for checks to show up in the mail that are a few days behind when you need to pay a bill or the mortgage can be an inconvenience. When you are working for someone else for a set amount of hours and a set hourly rate you know exactly what your income will be.

As for the advantages, well I think the advantages far out weigh the disadvantages.

My number 1 work from home advantage is the ability to work whenever I want anywhere I want. With a lap top computer I can pretty much do business anywhere
In the world. No matter were I am, on vacation or on a business trip or whatever. The internet and today’s technology makes a work from home internet business my business of choice.

My number 2 work from home advantage is not having to commute to work every morning. We have all hard the phrases rat race, no commute required and work from home in your pajamas. I have actually worked in my pajamas on the internet with a hot cup of coffee. Knowing that you do not have to get up at 6:00 am to go to work in the morning is a beautiful feeling.

My number 3 work from home advantage is not having a boss to tell me what to do all the time. The only boss I have is my consciousness that tells me to get up off the couch and go write an article on my computer or look for places to submit my web site URL to.

And finally my number 4 work from home internet business advantage is the income potential. Basically the income potential for a work from home internet business is endless. It all depends on how hard you want to work and how much time you want to devote to your work from home internet business. And with the amount of people joining the internet community every year, the future is bright.

How To Make Money Selling Ebooks

March 30, 2008 by From-Home.net
Filed under Opportunities, Work From Home

Many people have told me that they want to make money by selling ebooks, but they don’t want to write an e-book. If this describes you, I have great news for you! You can still make money by selling e-books written by other people by using affiliate marketing.

What is affiliate marketing? Affiliate Marketing is an agreement between a merchant (the person who wrote and owns the ebook) and you (an affiliate). You agree to use your web sites and blogs to promote the merchant’s e-books and to link to the merchant’s web site. In exchange for this, the merchant pays you a commission on all sales that were generated by the affiliate web site. A referral occurs when a customer clicks on your product link and makes a purchase.

So now that you know what affiliate marketing is, start looking for a few affiliate products that you would like to sell. You might already know someone whose ebooks you would like to sell, and who has an affiliate program. In this case, just register for this person’s affiliate program, get your affiliate links and start promoting the e-books.

If you don’t know of anyone who has e-books and an affiliate program that you can use to sell them, just use your favorite search engine to find them. For example, if you are looking for e-books on gardening that have an affiliate program, just type in gardening e-books affiliate program into search engines. Chances are, you will find what you are looking for.

Once you find e-books that you would like to promote, start promoting them. Here is information to help you promote them:

Create good web marketing copy for the e-books on your web site. It is not enough to list the e-books on your web site and then link to the seller’s web site. The people who come to your web site are not looking for links to other sites; rather, they are looking for useful information for themselves. Having useful information on your web site increases the changes of your web site visitors buying the e-book, and will generate affiliate commissions for you.

Once you have good web site copy, start promoting your web site online and drive traffic to it. One way to do that is by optimizing the site for search engines. Search engine optimization is the process of modifying web page content and meta-information to improve the search engine ranking of the page. Successful search engine optimization will greatly increase the number of visitors that come to your web site. The more visitors to the web site you have, the more affiliate products you will be able to sell, and the more money you will make. Make sure you optimize every page of your web site for search engines, especially the ones that provide the information about the e-books and sell the e-books; that way you will get more web site visitors.

Another way to drive more traffic to your web site is by creating a blog to promote it. A blog is your business diary, in which you share the information about your web site, as well as the e-books you are promoting. Your blog is an excellent tool to let the world know about the affiliate products and to connect with potential customers who would want to purchase them.

In order to bring the most online traffic and make money with your blog, make sure that your blog consistently and create blog posts that are of interest to your past as well as potential customers. Regular posts that are interesting to read is what will keep your readers coming back and buying from you. Use the tips discussed above to make money selling e-books written by others. That is an excellent way to make money online.

Work From Home: The Pros and Cons

March 23, 2008 by From-Home.net
Filed under Opportunities, Work From Home

If you’re thinking of starting a home business, you’ve got to realize something about life. Life has a certain balance: there is no pleasure without pain, and there are no pros without cons. Here’s a look at the upsides and downsides of home businesses.

Pro: Independence. You do what you want, when you want. No-one else can screw up your hard work, and you don’t need to depend on anyone but yourself. Your days of being told what to do are over. And there’s no dress code, either! Many people who work from home admit to sitting around in their pajamas all day, or even working in the nude.

Con: No Security. With independence, though, comes responsibility. There’s nobody to carry you if you do badly one day – if you don’t make any money for the business, then you don’t get paid. People like certainty in their lives (that’s why they spend big bucks on insurance) – it can be hard to live with this ultimate step into performance-related pay. You might find yourself quickly wishing you had a regular paycheck again.

Pro: Flexible Working. You decide your hours. If you want to take Wednesday off and work Saturday instead, then no-one’s stopping you. If you’d like to get up early and cram all your work into the mornings so you can have the afternoons off, then hey, you’re the boss. Such flexibility can be a massive relief after years of working nine to five.

Con: Work Never Ends. When you work from home, it can be tempting to be constantly monitoring things, even when you’ve decided you’re not working. The only person who can handle a crisis is you – and crises have a tendency to happen in the middle of the night, or on your day off.

Pro: Keeping All the Money. Everything you earn is yours to keep. It can be truly disheartening to work somewhere where cash is being handled, and realizing that the takings for the day add up to a hundred times more than you got paid. You know that someone’s getting rich off your back, but it’s not you – working from home makes you the fat cat at the top.

Con: Doing Everything. Not all that money was profit, you know. It goes on things like marketing, management, stock control, deliveries, and so on. Suddenly you have to manage everything that goes on in your business – you deal with suppliers on one end and customers on the other, you have to do all the budgeting and spending, and you become your own marketing department. You get to deal with all the fun tax issues, too.

Pro: No More Commuting. Commuting is expensive, painful, and can feel like a complete waste of time – just think of all the time and money most people spend traveling to and from work. When you have a home business, you just get up and you’re right next to your workplace – isn’t that convenient?

Con: One Less Room. Your house can feel a lot smaller when you’ve had to set one room aside as your ‘home office’. When you’re not working, it just sits there, useless, and meanwhile your kids are getting upset at how small their bedrooms are.

Pro: A Healthier Lifestyle. When you only have an hour’s lunch break to do everything you need to do, you can end up running yourself into the ground and not eating properly. Working from home lets you do your errands when you want, and eat good food every day.

Con: The Loneliness. If you’re the only one around in your house during the day, it avoids distractions – but it can also feel very lonely. If you’re the kind of person who likes being around other people, you can start to get quite depressed.

But…

If you talk to anyone who works from home, they’ll probably say to you that, for them, the pros far outweigh the cons. Once you’re doing your own thing and feeling great, it’s hard to go back to a salaried existence – and remember, it’s far easier to work around your problems in a home business than it is to deal with any problems you might have at work.
